The moment that Vijay fans across the globe were waiting for is finally here. Earlier today, the much-awaited trailer of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming Leo was released, but all the excitement that was there in the run up to it drained out pretty fast. After all the speculation about what director Lokesh Kanagaraj would have in store for audiences and if the film would, in some way, connect to any of his other movies, the Leo trailer left audiences underwhelmed.

Disappointed was the most common refrain from netizens as they took to social media to voice their thoughts on the trailer. Comments ranged from “Leo Trailer did not meet expectations”, to “This must be the weakest trailer cut for a Lokesh Kanagaraj movie”, “Ghost Trailer > Tiger Nageshwara Rao Trailer > Leo Trailer”, “Average trailer. Lokesh should not have revealed the dual role portion”, “Highly disappointed, didn’t meet even 10% of my expectation”, among others.

Of course, there were hardcore fans who loved every frame of the trailer. “Thalapathy, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Sarja are looking cool, menacing and badass,” wrote one user, while another chimed in, “Can’t wait to witness the magic unfold on the big screen on October 19”.

Leo is set to release in theatres on October 19 and despite the reception to the trailer, it is expected to rake in the moolah over the week-long Dasara holiday. In the film, Vijay essays two roles, one of which is that of a family man, married to Trisha, with a daughter, who runs afoul of some bad men, after being mistaken for the other ‘mystery’ character. The family man either has to keep running to stay safe or turn around and face the enemy. What will he do?

The Aniruddh Ravichandran musical also stars Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin and Priya Anand among many others.
