Despite facing stiff competition from the makers of KGF 2, Beast has sustained in cinemas, completing 25 days of theatrical run. According to multiple reports, for now, Beast has made more than Rs 250 crore, at the box office. And, Vijay has scored his fifth consecutive Rs 250 crore-film.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Beast was released on 850 screens in Tamil Nadu, on April 13. Trade pundits had predicted that the film would earn Rs 40 crore in Tamil Nadu on its opening day. And those predictions turned out true. On the first day, Beast minted Rs 38 crore in the state.
Speaking about the possibility of having a sequel to Beast, in an interview, Nelson Dilipkumar said, "If the situation and a chance arises, Beast will have a second part, provided Vijay agrees to play the role of Veeraraghavan."
In an interview with Cinema Express, Nelson said, "The script was written keeping Vijay sir in mind and he agreed to do the film halfway through the narration. Those around us were sceptical about how we would pull it all off. What was seen as a limitation allowed us to come up with an intriguing story.”
Nelson had also spoken about the challenges. “The real tough task was finding a mall to shoot with Vijay sir. We tried many in Delhi but realised that crowd control was a logistical nightmare. We decided to go with a set and wanted it to be close to reality in size and dimension. The atrium and the shops had to look real, and the construction took almost six months. From an architectural standpoint, we have done everything to replicate an actual mall. It helps to have the backing of an entity like Sun Pictures!”
Beast also stars director Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Aparna Das, choreographer Sathish, Redin Kingsley and others, in key roles.
Anirudh Ravichander is the music director of Beast.
The Tamil film will also be available in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on Netflix from May 11.
