The hospital bulletin revealed that while there was notable improvement in Vijayakanth's health, the past 24 hours have seen a decline, necessitating further treatment for his lungs.

Yesteryear superstar and political leader Vijayakanth's health condition has deteriorated, causing him to stay in the hospital for two more weeks, claimed the latest medical bulletin from the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
"Vijayakanth's health showed good improvements. But, in the last 24 hours, his health has deteriorated. His lungs need further treatment. We believe that he will soon make a full recovery. He needs to be in the hospital for the next 14 days," read the statement from the hospital.
Vijayakanth was admitted to the hospital on November 18. According to reports, initially, he was taken to a private hospital in Chennai for a general health check-up. However, the examination revealed that he had heavy chest congestion and was advised to undergo treatment at the hospital.
Vijayakanth has since remained under the intensive care medical care. As per Tamil news channels, Vijayakanth needed oxygen support as he was struggling to breathe on his own. The reports also claim that he continues to remain in the ICU at the hospital and he's being closely monitored by a team of multidisciplinary doctors.
He made his screen debut playing negative roles. However, soon he graduated to playing leading men and emerged as one of the top stars of Tamil cinema. His popularity was on par with the likes of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
Vijayakanth caught his first break with the 1981 action movie Sattam Oru Iruttarai, which was written and directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar, the father of Thalapathy Vijay. It became a huge hit at the box office at the time.
Vijayakanth mostly leads movies with themes that revolve around politics, corruption and the issues of law and order. Honest Raj, Sethupathi IPS, Bharathan, Chinna Gounder and Chatriyan are among the few of Vijayakanth's biggest hits.
