Suriya on Thursday unveiled a promo for Suriya 43 revealing the movie's main cast, including Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Varma.

Bollywood actor Vijay Varma seems to be overjoyed after landing a key role in Tamil superstar Suriya's next movie, which has been temporarily titled Suriya 43. The 43rd film in Suriya's career will make Vijay Varma's first movie in Tamil and he's thrilled about sharing screen space with some of the biggest talents of South Indian cinema.
"I’m so thrilled and delighted to be working with you and this fantastic team Sudha ma’am has brought together. My first Tamil film and it can’t get grander than this! Onwards," Vijay Varma said while reacting to the film's announcement.
Suriya on Thursday unveiled a promo for Suriya 43 revealing the movie's tagline as Purananooru and the main star cast. In addition to playing the lead role, Suriya is also producing the movie under his own banner, 2D Entertainment.
Based on the promo video, Purananooru seems like a period drama, set against the backdrop of a massive agitation. Suriya 43 will be helmed by Sudha Kongara, marking her second collaboration with Suriya after Soorarai Pottru.
"It's going to be more challenging than Soorarai Pottru. I am worried and scared because its scale is very big. It's not a biopic, but, it's based on a true story. And it's an incident that affected me deeply. I wanted to see it as a film," Sudha Kongara said earlier in an interview.
Soorarai Pottru was based on the memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, which was penned by G. R. Gopinath, who revolutionised India's commercial aviation sector by introducing a low-cost airline.
The buzz is that Suriya 43 is inspired by the events of anti-Hindi protests that took place in Tamil Nadu in the late 1960s. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
Besides Suriya and Vijay Varma, Suriya 43 will also have Dulquer Salmaan and Nazriya Fahadh in leading roles.
