Vijay Sethupathi's Kadaisi Vivasayi seems to be going places. The film, helmed by M Manikandan of Kaaka Kuttai fame, revolves around an 80-year-old farmer called Mayandi (Nallandi) and has Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu in supporting characters. The latest we hear is that the film has received an international honour and features in the top of the list of highest rated international features of 2022 by Letterboxd. The other films that made it to the top ten include Mars One, Burning Days, Argentina, RRR, Missing Home, Joyland to name a few.

The plot of Kadaisi Vivasayi delves into the life of Mayandi who is assigned the task of providing the symbolic grain to the village deity as he is the last farmer left in the village. He is later arrested for the suspicion of killing a peacock. The film talks about the importance of agriculture and the need to save it. The film has cinematography by Manikandan himself and editing by Ajithkumar. Manikandan also doubled as the producer. Music for the film is by Santhosh Narayanan and English composer Richard Harvey. Earlier Manikandan had roped in Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja for the film but it seemed like creative differences cropped up between the two and Ilaiyaraaja was eventually replaced by Santhosh Narayanan.

Santhosh Narayanan has shared on his social media handle that it was one of hos favourite films of 2022 and that he his honoured to be part of the team. He wrote on his social media handle, "#EverythingEverywhereAllAtOnce and #KadaisiVivasayi were my most favourite movies of 2022 and I am so honoured to be part of the team @VijaySethuOffl #Manikandan (sic)."

Though the film didn't really rake in the moolah at the box office, it received a lot of critical acclaim from all quarters. Kadaisi Vivasayi was screened at the 2021 International Festival of Rotterdam and Chennai International Film Festival 2022.
