The news of Soori playing the lead in a film under Vetri Maaran's direction had evoked curiousity when Viduthalai was announced. The announcement on Ilaiyaraaja composing music for the movie and Vijay Sethupathi playing a cameo on it was the icing on the cake.

The first look of the project, which is based on B Jeyamohan's novel Thunaivan, was out earlier this year. It was also heard that filmmaker-turned-actor Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj and Bhavani Sre will be seen in crucial roles in the movie. Produced by Elred Kumar under the banner of RS Infotainment, Viduthalai has cinematography by Velraj.

The makers have now released a few stills from the film. One of them has an aggressive Vijay, who is said to be playing a Naxalite, pointing a gun at someone while another still has him in an aged look, surrounded by a few police man.

Another interesting picture has the actor seen having a gala time with Soori and Vetri Maaran on the set. A few pictures of Soori, who plays a cop in the film, were also released. Vetri Maaran is seen narrating a scene to Prakash Raj in another picture which has the latter sitting on floor.

As if this isn't enough, there is news that Dhanush has sung a song in the movie under Ilaiyaraaja's composition, and fans of the multi-faceted actor and the maestro can't wait to listen to it. Vetri Maaran, whose last theatrical release was Asuran (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), directed the segment Oor Iravu from Paava Kadhaigal (streaming on Netflix) which premiered last year.

Prakash Raj played one of the leads in the poignant drama which was based on honour killing. His performance along with Sai Pallavi was appreciated by critics and audiences alike.
