Ponram has directed the movie which will be released in theatres on December 2

The makers of DSP, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, unveiled the film's trailer yesterday. Ponram has helmed the film which has been bankrolled by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam. Touted as a cop drama, the project is set for a release in theatres on December 2.
Anukreethy Vas, who makes her acting debut, is playing the female lead in the movie which has Sethupathi essaying a cop's role after a short hiatus. The film's story revolves around a dedicated police officer who locks horns with a dreaded criminal in Dindigul. How he handles a bevy of goons in the small town where he once faced insult forms the rest of the story.
DSP will take on Vishnu Vishal's Gatta Kusthi at the box office on December 2. The movie features Prabhakar, Pugazh, Ilavarasu and Gnanasammandhan among others essaying notable characters. Imman has composed music while Venkatesh S and Dinesh Krishnan B have jointly handled cinematography for the film.
K Veerasamar and Vivek Harshan have handled art direction and editing respectively for the movie which has dance choreography helmed by Dinesh and Sherif. Dinesh Subbarayan's action choreography is expected to be one of the highlights of the project.
We have learnt that Netflix and Sun NXT have bagged the digital rights of DSP. The OTT premiere of the movie is likely to be after a month's theatrical release. Sources say that the film is expected to start streaming on both the platforms in the first week of January 2023.
The film is Ponram's theatrical release after a four-year hiatus. His last outing, MGR Magan, had a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar. Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Seemaraja was his previous theatrical release.
