Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who’s awaiting the release of Maamanithan, directed by Seenu Ramasamy, launched the first look of director Ko Dhanabalan's Parundhaaguthu Oorkuruvi, recently. The film features actors Pandrikku Nandri Solli-fame Nishanth Rusho and Vivek Prasanna (who rose to fame with Meyaadha Maan and Vikram Vedha), in lead roles. Dhanabalan, who formerly worked as a co-director to filmmaker Ram, has written the story and screenplay apart from directing Parundhaaguthu Oorkuruvi.
A source in the know tells OTTplay that the film is based on the theme, 'evil shall perish'.
The survival thriller has been made by an enterprising team of youngsters. "The story revolves around two individuals who get trapped inside a forest with mysteries. How they save each other and manage to survive a sequence of dangerous situations on a single day is what the film is all about," the source adds.
Ratchasan fame Vinod Sagar, Arul D Shankar, Kodanki Vadivel and E Ramdoss are among those who play important roles in Parundhaaguthu Oorkuruvi, which has Gayathri playing the female lead. She has done films in Hindi and series including Raid and Naagin 6.
The unit has shot the film across the forest areas in Ooty. “We have completed the shooting, and the film is currently in post-production. The locations we chose were difficult to shoot at and considering the film is about one night's story, we had to shoot in darkness,” Dhanabalan told Cinema Express.
Lights On Media, one of the leading Digital Marketing companies, is stepping into film production with Parundhaaguthu Oorkuruvi, which has cinematography by Ashwin Noel and music by Renjith Unni (who's known for singing Entammede Jimikki Kammal in the Malayalam film, Velipadinte Pusthakam (2017).
