Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who is one of the most versatile actors in the Tamil film industry, is gearing up for his 50th outing as an actor with the upcoming release Maharaja. Directed by Nithilan Saminathan of Kurangu Bommai-fame, the film is all set to hit big screens on Ju ne 14.

Ahead of its release, the actor spoke about Maharaja being his 50th film and how it will earn a special place in his career.

Vijay Sethupathi has been promoting his upcoming film Maharaja. Recently, the team has been in Dubai after Burj Khalifa tower featured the film. Speaking in an interview with Nakkheeran Studio, Vijay Sethupathi was asked about how special will Maharaja be, given it is his 50th film.

"It was Nithilan who convinced me about Maharaja. Anyone can sit on the Maharaja's throne but the back story of how he became one should be interesting and captivating. Nithilan gave me such a story and that is how Maharaja happened,” he said.

"As we try to remember something, a few collective memories might strike. In the similar fashion, when I think of my career one day, Maharaja will be one of those films I will recollect,” the actor mentioned.

Written and directed by Nithilan who previously made Kurangu Bomma, Maharaja also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, Sachana Namidass, and others.

It is backed by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy, with the technical crew consisting of Dinesh Purushothaman cranking the camera and music composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath. Philomin Raj has edited the film.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi recently wrapped up shooting of his next film, Ace, which has Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead. The actor also has Gandhi Talks in the pipeline, which has yet to get a release date.
