However, in what may seem like a tragic turn, there are high chances that Vijay will cancel his birthday celebrations and updates, owing to the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy. Will Vijay cancel birthday celebrations owing to the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy?

Kallakurichi, a district in Tamil Nadu, has been making headlines recently after over 30 people lost their lives and several were hospitalised after consuming illegally brewed arrack. With over 120 people in hospitals receiving treatment, Vijay travelled to Kallakurichi to personally see the victims and offer moral support to the families of the deceased.

It is also to be noted that Vijay, who will be celebrating his 50th birthday on June 22, has chosen to spend his time with the victims of the family, putting his birthday celebration on hold. As per a post put out by the actor’s manager, Bussy Anand, Vijay has asked his recently launched political party (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) administrators to visit the families of the deceased directly along with those undergoing treatment to provide all the necessary assistance and help. The actor has also asked them to cancel his birthday celebrations.

Vijay’s politician side takes over

Vijay, who recently plunged into the Tamil Nadu politics by launching his own party, has evidently been impacted by the hooch tragedy. It is so much so that the actor has asked his party members to cancel his landmark 50th birthday celebrations on June 22, Saturday. It is still unsure if we will be getting any birthday updates surrounding his films, including the upcoming one, The GOAT- Greatest of All Time. Vijay himself has travelled to Kallakurichi and has been seen visibly upset by the loss of several lives.

However, it looks like Vijay’s politician and humanitarian side has taken over the actor in him. Owing to the sentiments of those who were impacted by the tragedy, Vijay has taken the stance to put his personal celebrations aside, once again proving how much serious as a politician he is. It is to be noted that back in 2018, Vijay had not celebrated his birthday owing to the Thoothukudi protests and stood in solidarity with the lives lost then during the Sterlite protests.
