If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Vijay Antony's upcoming film Pichaikkaran 2 is likely to be postponed. The latest we hear is that the makers have pushed the release date from April 14 and that the new release date is yet to be announced. However, there has been no official confirmation on the same. If the speculations are indeed true, it looks like the decision has been taken keeping in mind the slew of films hitting screens on the date, including Samantha's Shaakuntalam, Salaar, Rudhran, Soppana Sundari and Ilamai Enum Poonkaatru.
Pichaikkaran 2 is a sequel to the 2016 film, Pichaikaaaran. While the original was written and directed by Sasi, the sequel is helmed by Vijay Antony himself. The star cast for the sequel includes Vijay Antony, Kavya Thapar, Hareesh Peradi, Radha Ravi, YG Mahendran, Mansoor Ali Khan, to name a few. Apart from being the captain of the ship, Vijay Antony has also scored the music for the film.
The shooting for the film had come to a grinding halt after Vijay Antony met with a major accident on the sets of the film in Langkawi, Malaysia. The actor had later undergone surgery on his jaw and nose. He had later shared a picture on social media stating that he was recovering well. His tweet read, "Dear friends, I am safely recovered from a severe jaw and nose injury during Pichaikkaran 2 shoot in Malaysia. I just completed a major surgery. I will talk to you all as soon as possibleThank you for all your support and concern for my health (sic)."
Pichaikkaran 2 is set to release in Tamil, Telugu (Bichagadu 2), Kannada (Bhikshukha 2) and Malayalam (Bhikshakkaran 2). While the cinematography is by Om Narayanan, editing is handled by Vijay himself. The satellite and digital rights of the film have been bagged by Star Network.
