Bicchagadu actor, producer Vijay Antony, who has been received kindly by Telugu audiences for his unique script choices, is back with a new film. He is turning a detective for a project directed by Balaji Kumar that has been titled Hatya in Telugu. Ritika Singh is cast as the leading lady in the film where she plays a rookie cop, an on-screen colleague to Vijay Antony.
Hatya is bankrolled by Kamal Bohra, G Dhananjayan, Pradeep B, Pankaj Bohra, and S Vikram Kumar under Infiniti Film Ventures in association with Tan Sri Doraisingam Pillai, Siddhartha Shankar and RVS Ashok Kumar of Lotus Pictures. Director Balaji Kumar says that Hatya is loosely inspired by the murder of Dorothy King incident in 1923 that created shockwaves across the world for the mystery lying beneath it.
"I had to work on over 30 drafts before finalising the script, which will be relevant to the current day scenario. The tale revolves around a model Laila, who is killed in her flat. There are at least five men in Leila's life who want to see her dead. Detective Vinayak, who is yet to recover from a personal tragedy, is asked to solve the mystery. Vijay Antony is the mentor to Ritika Singh's Sandhya in the film," the director adds.
John Vijay, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Murli Sharma, Siddhartha Shankar, Arjun Chidambaram, Kishore Kumar, Samkit Bohra, and others also essay supporting roles in the film. Balaji Kumar, who has written and directed Hatya, has previously directed Vidiyum Munn in Tamil and 9 Lives of Maara in English. Sivakumar Vijayan is the cinematographer and RK Selva is the editor of Hatya. Girishh Gopalakrishnan scores the music for the same.
Vijay Antony and Infiniti Film Ventures , one of the producers of Hatya, have already collaborated for the actor's previous release Vijay Raghavan and have teamed up with him for two more films too.
