Nam Joo Hyuk’s thriller kdrama is speculated to enhance the loyal kdrama fanbase as the superstar has over 18 million followers on Instagram and his good looks and impeccable acting skills often take the breath of the viewers.
Plot
The series is based upon a webtoon (a digital comic) and includes graphic scenes with plenty of bloody and fist-fight scenes. The plot revolves around the law and criminal justice. It follows a police model student Kim Ji Yong who turned vigilante due to his troubled past and inner conflicts that led him to take law into his own hands. He’s playful with his college friends, and a dedicated police academy student during the weekdays but turns a dark hero to seek justice that slips from the eyes of the criminal justice system. The drama reflects upon the loopholes in Korea’s justice system.
Cast of Vigilante
Nam Joo Hyuk, who is renowned for playing unique characters in hit kdramas, ranging from the sweet college boy in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo to the geeky maths genius in Start Up, unveiled his bruised, baddie side as Kim Ji Yong with his new thriller kdrama Vigilante.
He plays a diligent police academy student who studies law and order during the day but switches to a secret, dark identity at night. Taking the law into his own hands also puts him in a moral dilemma, where he is caught between the good and the bad. His character seems to channel Batman as he fights against crime in Gotham City.
Amongst other notable characters include Kim So-jin as Choi Mi-ryeo, a dedicated broadcast news reporter who will investigate the hidden vigilante identity to the world. While Yoo Ji-tae as Jo Heon portrays the smart and muscular investigation chief, leading an investigation team chasing Vigilante.
The first two episodes are streaming on Disney+Hotstar in Korean language.
