Daali Dhananjaya has a close circle of friends with whom he also tends to collaborate repeatedly professionally too, like Poornachandra Mysore and Nagabhushana, for instance. Since turning producer with Badava Rascal, Dhananjaya, who is on his 4th production, Vidyapati, has worked with Nagabhushana on 3 of them. And that is something that Nagabhushana is often asked about by people – does he only work with Daali Pictures?
Addressing this at the trailer launch of Vidyapati, Nagabhushana said that the only reason that he repeatedly works with the banner is that his friend Dhananjaya is the only one who has shown confidence in him to invest Rs 5-6 crore and produce films with him in the lead. “When people ask me if I only work with Dhananjaya’s banner, I counter with another question - ‘Who else has come forward to make films with me?’ It’s as simple as that. No one else has approached me, ready to invest on a film with me in the lead. Dhananjaya had the courage to do that,” he said.
The actor’s last as a leading man, Tagaru Palya, had done decent business at the box office, despite which, Dhananjaya had found it difficult to find a streaming partner for the film. It eventually came on Amazon Prime Video for a limited period, after which it was put on the banner’s official YouTube page.
