Daali Dhananjaya’s fourth production venture, Vidyapati, featuring his close pal Nagabhushana in the lead, will be in theatres in less than a month. The film by Ikkat makers Esham and Haseen, took up the Toxic release date, April 10, 2025, but will not get a solo-outing, what with other Kannada films like Agnyathavasi, by Gultoo-maker Janardhan Chikkanna and produced by Hemanth M Rao, Kaiva actor Dhanveerah's next Vamana and Ajai Rao’s Yuddhakaanda also confirmed to vie for a share of the long-weekend market.
Nagabhushana is a money-crazy maniac in Vidyapati
Ahead of the release, Dhananjaya got Dhruva Sarja to launch the trailer of Vidyapati, which is markedly different from the glimpse of the film that had been available earlier, and puts an entirely new spin on the story. Turns out, the title comes from the fact that Nagabhushana’s character is the husband of a successful actor, Vidya (Malaika Vasupal), and is, hence, Vidyapati. The man, according to people that know him, is a money-crazy maniac, who, they reckon, will meet his end because of this very trait.
When he then faces an adverse situation, that requires him to man up and fight, what he does next is what the narrative follows. Garuda Ram is the villain in the tale, as the fearsome Jaggu, while Dhananjaya springs a surprise, with a fun cameo.

Vidyapati is Nagabhushana’s second film as hero for Daali Pictures, and fourth for the banner. Besides summer vacation kicking in for school kids and some sections of college students too, the film’s April 10 release day is also an advantage as far as the general public is concerned.

April 10 is a holiday for Mahavir Jayanti, followed by a working day and then a weekend. April 14 is another holiday for Vishu/Baisakhi/Ambedkar Jayanti, and then leads into the Easter week with holidays from April 17 Thursday for Maundy Thursday, April 18 Good Friday and the Easter weekend.
