As a producer or presenter, Daali Dhananjaya has never shied away from taking up a challenge and bringing a film to theatres on a date amid serious competition from other language movies. He is set to do that yet again with his latest production venture Vidyapati, the release date of which was announced on the occasion of Sankranti.

Nagabhushana's Vidyapati gets a long-holiday release in April

Vidyapati, which has Nagabhushana in the lead, in what is his second film for the banner, after Tagaru Palya, will be in theatres on April 10, 2025, taking up the spot vacated by Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic. The date comes with certain advantages, even though, several big-ticket movies, including Prabhas’ Raja Saab, have locked the same. Dhananjaya and Nagabhushana revealed the release date with a fun video.

When the Toxic release date had been announced even before the film went on floors, OTTPlay had listed why April 10 was conducive. Day 1, April 10 is a Thursday and a holiday for Mahavir Jayanti, followed by 11th a working day and then a weekend. April 14 is yet another holiday for Vishu/Baisakhi/Ambedkar Jayanti, which then leads into the Easter week with holidays from April 17 Thursday for Maundy Thursday, April 18 Good Friday and the Easter weekend.

Directed by Esham and Haseen, who’d made the lockdown comedy Ikkat with Nagabhushana and Bhoomi Shetty, Vidyapati is said to be an action comedy, which has Malaika Vasupal, of Upadhyaksha fame, in the lead. The film is the fourth production venture of Daali Pictures. It has music by Dossmode and will be distributed by KRG Studios.

But for the fact that Nagabhushana plays a karate student under the tutelage of a master played by Rangayana Raghu, nothing much is known about the film that Esham and Haseen have written and edited.
