Vidya Balan has been in the limelight following the release of Jalsa, co-starring Shefali Shah. The actor has now opened up about her next, a romantic drama co-starring Pratik Gandhi.

Speaking to PTI, she said, "I love relationship stories and this one is so...it is about modern marriage, modern affairs. And I enjoy that space. I was looking to do something like that for a long time. But what I got was even better than what I had imagined.”

The untitled film is helmed by ad filmmaker Shirsha Guha Thakurta. Talking about the director, Balan said that this is her first time directing a feature movie and hailed her ability as a director. Balan added that the director also treated the movie as a relationship between human beings.

Apart from Balan and Gandhi, the movie also stars Ileana D'Cruz and Indian-American actor Sendhil Ramamurthy in important roles.

Shakuntala Devi and Sherni, the actor’s last two films, opted for an OTT release. Balan is now hopeful her next two movies, including a a murder-mystery movie with director Anu Menon, will hit thteatres.

Balan’s drama Jalsa, co-starring Shefali Shah, released on Amazon Prime Video on March 18 and has received mixed to positive reviews.

“It's a great time for Jalsa to be watched as we crave the content-driven films that have been lost in translation recently. What more could there be than having Vidya and Shefali come together and narrate a story that is unconventional in its way?”, reads OTTplay’s review of the film.

Jalsa, directed by Suresh Triveni, is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
