Vidya Balan is back in her character of Manjulika. The actress reprises her role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, even though there’s a twist. The trailer unveiled two Manjulikas (one being Madhuri Dix it), but of course, Vidya is the OG Manjulika (from the original film). The actress spoke about returning as the character in the upcoming film, starring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles. Here’s what she said at the recently held trailer launch…
On returning as Manjulika, Vidya Balan thanked Anees Bazmee for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and said that if she didn't get the role, then she would possess Bhushan Kumar. "I'm back in Bhool Bhulaiyaa after 17 years. I'm extremely happy about it, and also very loved in the 17 years since the release of the film," Vidya shared, adding that she feels that she will be more loved as Manjulika for the next 17 years too.
The actress pointed out how Kartik mentioned the shooting location of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. It took place where the trailer launch of the film happened. Vidya recalled that the original film was shot entirely in Jaipur. With that, she spoke about the city and the film having an old connect, and ended by thanking the fans for all the love she has received over the years while also asking them to go to theatres on Diwali if they wish to avoid Manjulika.
The makers had kept a surprise which was unveiled with the trailer release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The surprise is that Madhuri Dixit is also a ghost in the film, and she too calls herself Manjulika. So, yes, there are 2 Manjulikas in the film and Rooh Baba, played by Kartik, has to figure out who is the real Manjulika. This happens behind locked doors.
The trailer also sees Rooh Baba, eager to marry Triptii’s character, run away from her towards the end. Before walking out though, he asks her to back off. There sure is some mystery there, which will be unveiled with the film’s release on Diwali.
