Viduthalai- Part 2 trailer: The period drama depicts police brutality in hilly regions and the people's revolution. The sequel explores deeper roles for Vijay Sethupathi and introduces Manju Warrier.

The trailer of Viduthalai- Part 2, was released by the makers on social media on Tuesday. The film, starring Soori, Vijay Sethupathi and others, is directed by Vetrimaaran.
Viduthalai Part 2 is the upcoming second part of director Vetrimaaran’s film Viduthalai, which released earlier last year. The film is a period drama, headlined by Soori. Now, the second part of the film is gearing up for release on December 20.
Ahead of its theatrical release, the makers of the film released the trailer. Viduthalai- Part 2’s audio was also released along with it. The first part revolves around a rookie cop who gets stationed in a hilly region where there is constant friction between the people and police. With tension rising due to police brutality, the people’s revolution gets strengthened.
Soori, who first played his maiden lead role in Viduthalai, will be resuming his character. Actor Vijay Sethupathi who played a cameo in the first part, will have lengthier role in the upcoming sequel.
The almost three-minute trailer takes us back to the younger days of Vijay Sethupathi's character who talks about how the frame of caste and class hierarchy broke the society, paving way for him to revolt against it. We are then introduced to Manju Warrier's character who eventually gets married to Vijay Sethupathi's Perumal. We see someone plotting her murder, political plans to control Perumal. We are then cut to present, where Soori's Kumaresan is part of police's plot to capture Perumal. After gunshots between police and Perumal, we see him almost being captured.
The first part of Viduthalai is available for streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium app. The OTT rights of the sequel have also been bagged by the same platform and will be made available after its theatrical run.
Besides directing, Vetrimaaran has also written the screenplay along with writer Jeyamohan. Backed by Grass Root Film Company and RS Infotainment. Viduthalai part 1 starred Bhavani Sre, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, Chetan and others. The second part will have additional actors joining the cast, like Kishore, Bose Venkat, Vincent Ashokan, Anurag Kashyap, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, Aryan, Munnar, Ramesh, Pavel Navageethan, Sardar Sathya, Ken Karunas, among others.
Ilaiyaraaja is scoring the music. The film is backed by Elred Kumar, with cinematography by R. Velraj. Viduthalai is based on the idea of Vengaichami written by Thangam and short story by Jeyamohan. R. Ramar is the editor and Jacki is the art director.
