Viduthalai Part 2 release update - Vetrimaaran's film to clash with Kanguva and Vidaamuyarchi?

Vetrimaaran is all set to return to the theatres, with the second part of his acclaimed film Viduthalai. The highly anticipated project, which features Vijay Sethupathi and Soori in the lead roles, has been under production for a long time. However, as per the recent updates, Viduthalai Part 2 is finally gearing up for its grand theatrical release, during the Deepavali season of 2024. In that case, Vetrimaaran’s film will clash with Suriya’s fantasy action film Kanguva, and the Ajith Kumar starrer Vidaamuyarchi.

Viduthalai Part 2 to clash with Kanguva and Vidaamuyarchi?

If the recent updates are to be believed, Viduthalai Part 2 has been slated to hit the big screens by the final week of October 2024, as a Deepavali special release. For the uninitiated, the highly anticipated Vetrimaaran directorial had its world premiere at the 53rd International Film Festival of Rotterdam, in January 2024. However, the filmmaker and his team have previously confirmed that the period crime thriller will have its theatrical release only by the second half of 2024.

If the Soori-Vijay Sethupathi starrer is clashing with Suriya’s Kanguva and Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi at the box office, the Deepavali season is going to be quite eventful for Tamil cinema. The industry, which hit an all-time low in 2024 with no significant box office successes so far, is expected to get a new lease of life by the second half of the year, with multiple massive releases lined up. However, the makers of Viduthalai Part 2, Kanguva, and Vidaamuyarchi have not officially announced the release date, yet.

Soori, who plays Constable Kathiresan in Viduthalai, is returning to reprise the role in the sequel. Vijay Sethupathi, who appeared as Perumal Vaathiyar in the first installment, plays a full-fledged role in Viduthalai Part 2. Manju Warrier appears in the role of Perumal's wife. The popular faces of the first part, including Gautham Vasudev Menon, Bhavani Sre, Attakathi Dinesh, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, and others will reprise their respective roles. Viduthalai Part 1 on OTT

If you wish to revisit Viduthalai Part 1 before watching the highly anticipated second installment in theaters, the highly acclaimed Vetrimaaran directorial is currently streaming on Zee5. The period crime thriller is also available for streaming on OTTplay Premium. Along with the original Tamil version, the Soori-Vijay Sethupathi starrer is also available in the Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada languages, for streaming.
