Viduthalai Part 2 OTT release date: Vetrimaaran’s period action duology finds home in new streaming partner

The 2024 Vetrimaaran film Viduthalai: Part 2, which was released in December, is all set to stream on Prime Video from January 19 onwards. The period-action thriller stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.

Director Vetrimaaran’s second part of his duology, Viduthalai: Part 2 is a crime action thriller which released in theatres in December. Following its theatrical run, the film will make its streaming debut on Prime Video from January 19 onwards. The Tamil film will be available in Telugu dubbed version as well.

Viduthalai: Part 2 also stars actors Manju Warrier, Chethan, Kishore, Gautam Vasudev, Rajiv Menon, and Anurag Kashyap among others in pivotal roles. In addition to the second part, the first part, Viduthalai Part 1 will also be available on Prime Video.

Viduthalai Part 2 begins from where the first part ended, where the police get hold of people’s movement leader Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi). Through gripping flashbacks, Perumal recounts his life story to a group of policemen while being transferred to another location. The film explores Perumal's transformation from a school teacher to a revolutionary leader, which leaves a lasting impact on police constable Kumaresan (Soori) who played a pivotal role in capturing Perumal.

With Ilaiyaraaja scoring the music and RS Infotainment backing the film, Viduthalai Part 2 has cinematography by R. Velraj. R Ramar is the editor and Jacki is the art director.

Speaking about crafting Viduthalai, Vetrimaaran said, “The journey of Viduthalai has been an incredibly special one for me. With Part 2, we’ve delved even deeper into the story, exploring the complexities of these characters and the world they inhabit. We aimed to showcase the moral and ideological struggles of people fighting for what they believe in while questioning the systemic forces that define their existence.”
