Director Vetrimaaran's highly anticipated film, Viduthalai 2, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, is set to release on December 20

While Tamil cinema will be laying low in December, one of the most expected films to hit theatres will be director Vetrimaaran's second part of his duology, Viduthalai 2. The film, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, is scheduled to hit screens on December 20. With only a few weeks left for the release, the makers announced that the background scoring has been completed by composer Ilaiyaaraja at his studio.
The second part of Viduthalai is gearing up for release on December 20, in time for Christmas. Ahead of this, the team has successfully completed working on the background score for Viduthalai- Part 2. The film is helmed by Vetrimaaran.
Announcing the update, the makers wrote on social media, "After the successful completion of the background score for Viduthalai Part 2, producer Elred Kumar and director Vetrimaaran met with music maestro Ilaiyaraaja at his studio. The team expressed their gratitude to the legendary composer for his exceptional contribution to the film’s music, which is expected to elevate the cinematic experience to new heights. The meeting marked a significant milestone in the journey of Viduthalai Part 2, reflecting the dedication and collaboration behind the project."
Viduthalai is a period action drama about a rookie cop who is tasked to confront a people’s movement against oppression and police brutality. The film stars Soori as the cop, and Vijay Sethupathi who made a cameo in the first part, will appear for lengthier portions in the sequel, as the head of people’s movement.
The post-theatrical streaming rights of Viduthalai 2 have been bagged by ZEE5 and will be made available on OTTplay Premium very soon. The first part of the film is also available for streaming right now on ZEE5.
