Vidharth, whose latest release was Payanigal Gavanikkavum (that streams on aha Tamil), will headline a thriller next. Directed by newbie Manimaran Natarajan, the film was launched recently.
Bankrolled by Green Native Films, this yet-to-be-titled thriller will go on floors by the third week of August and is expected to be completed by December.
Confirmed reports suggest that Vidharth has multiple looks in the film, and the makers are looking to finalise a female actor, although this one doesn't conventionally have a heroine.
Manimaran told The New Indian Express, “The story revolves around a police investigation and is a psycho-thriller with a sense of realism." Also, he added he hasn't taken too much cinematic liberty with his characters. "For instance, the film has only one theme song!"
To be shot completely in Chennai, this project has music by Ghibran, editing by Nagooran Ramachandran (of Don and Saani Kaayidham-fame), and make-up by Pattanam Rasheed, cinematography by Satish Kumar.
Vidharth first appeared on the big screen in a blink-and-you-miss-it role in Minnale. After the success of Mynaa, Vidharth kept signing films. But one flop followed another.
Despite a few commercial successes and the appreciation he got, Vidharth’s career graph did not see a dramatic upward curve. He's honest about accepting it. The Kaatrin Mozhi actor told the Hindu, “I know I am not a star today. But I never wanted to become one.”
The actor's idea of a good film is very different…it might or might not work at the box office but it is what it is. He told OTTplay, “People might have thought Kuttrame Thandanai was slow but that’s the kind of cinema I want to be a part of. I have witnessed such stories in real life!” To him, “the sense of satisfaction he manages to create the character exactly how he had imagined him to be, is the biggest high.”
