A week has passed since the theatrical release of Sam Bahadur, starring Vicky Kaushal. Several web sources have hinted that the war drama that has held audiences' attention for so long will shortly make its debut on OTT. Now, as per the latest reports, the Meghna Gulzar film will not be available online for viewing for at least eight weeks.
OTT premiere on Republic Day
Reports have been making the rounds that Sam Bahadur is likely to have its OTT premiere on ZEE5 during the Christmas season. That, however, is not true. According to Pinkvilla, the film will stick to the standard eight-week gap between its theatrical release and OTT premiere. Sources informed the entertainment portal that the film will make its online premiere on Republic Day.
Meanwhile, many are praising Vicky's performance as Sam Manekshaw, the courageous patriot who became the first field marshal of India. Others praised the actor's commitment to acting and his portrayal of the role in the biographical war drama, with some even going so far as to predict that he would win a national award.
Vicky Kaushal's stellar performance
Jehan Manekshaw, grandson of Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, was one of the early viewers. He was impressed by Vicky's performance as his grandfather and felt the actor did the part properly. According to Jehan's recent statement, the effort that the actor put into the part was clearly worthwhile. "Work hard, play hard" was his grandpa's mantra, and Manekshaw used to tell Jehan's mom and him it all the time. Vicky put in a lot of time and effort in preparation; when he played his grandfather, it was clear that he loved the role. It was wonderful for Jehan to see the actor revive his grandfather's character the way he did. He was perfect in every way.
There has been an encouraging early box office performance for the film. Sam Bahadur also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles.
