After blowing audiences away with his intense portrayal of the titular Indian revolutionary in Sardar Udham, Vicky Kaushal is all set to step into the shoes of yet another Indian hero, in his upcoming film Sam Bahadur. The film will see Vicky essay the role of Sam Manekshaw, the late Indian army officer who made history to become the first field marshal of the Indian military. The film recently wrapped up its shoot, and Vikcy took to social media to mark the special occasion with a heartfelt post.

Vicky posted a picture of himself from the film’s sets dressed as the titular protagonist. He is seen sitting atop the hood of a military jeep, posing for a picture with the film’s director Meghna Gulzar.

In the caption of the post, Vicky expressed how grateful he was to have been associated with the project, which he said depicted the life of a ‘true legend’. “So much I got to live, so much I got to learn… so much there is to bring to you all”, he wrote.

The actor also gave thanks to the hardworking cast and crew of the film, as well as the late army officer and his family.

The upcoming film also features Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in prominent roles. The former essays the role of Indira Gandhi in the film. The film will see Vicky, Fatima and Sana share the screen for the first time.

Earlier, the director had talked about how much hard work and rigorous research they had conducted for the film, and how incredibly fulfilling it felt to tell the inspiring story of Sam Manekshaw. Vicky had also spoken of how lucky he felt to get a chance to do such a role.

Sam Bahadur will be released in cinemas on December 1, 2023.
