Vicky Kaushal is the talk of the town again, after ruling the charts for a long time with his Tauba Tauba moves. This time, he is in the headlines for the highly anticipated period film Chhaava. Starring as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the film is one of the most awaited and grand projects of the year. It comes from the same production house responsible for the Supernatural Universe that includes Stree, Munjya, and Bhediya. Initially slated for a December 2024 release alongside Pushpa 2: The Rule, Chhaava was wisely postponed to February 2025. As the release date approaches, the makers have unveiled new posters and a motion poster to gear up for the trailer launch.
Chhaava New Posters Out
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Pictures, Chhaava is based on the life of the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who ruled from 1681 to 1689. Set on a grand scale, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Divya Dutta as Sambhaji Maharaj’s stepmother Soyarabai, and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The newly released posters, which depict themes like fire, water, and storms, have heightened anticipation for the trailer releasing on January 22, 2025.
Sharing the new posters featuring Vicky Kaushal, the makers captioned: "Paani bhi woh, Toofan bhi woh, Sher Shiva ka #CHHAAVA hai woh! #ChhaavaTrailer out on 22 January! Releasing in cinemas on 14th February 2025 (sic)." Each poster narrates a story, showcasing the fierce and multifaceted legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj.

Recently, at CNN-News18’s Indian of the Year 2024 Awards, Vicky Kaushal discussed taking up Chhaava. He said, "When you start discussing an opportunity like Chhaava, and when it comes your way with Laxman Utekar as the director and Dinesh Vijan as the producer, it becomes exciting. They’re the same team I worked with on Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. Laxman Sir first discussed this opportunity while we were shooting that film."
He added, "The first feeling is: will I be able to do justice to such an incredible legacy? But that challenge excites me. Playing someone like Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is a beautiful opportunity to understand their culture, history, values, beliefs, and immense love for the country."
