Vettaiyan is Rajinikanth's latest film which has started on a decent note in Tamil Nadu. The action drama was also released in Telugu on a massive note. But the reviews for the film have been mixed in Telugu states. But this did not stop the film from raking in good numbers during the Dussehra release weekend.
The T. J. Gnanvel film has completed four days of its run and has grossed just over Rs 13 crore in Telugu states to date. These are decent numbers and showcase the star power of Rajinikanth. Though the film needs more money to be in the safe zone, the distributors are happy that Vettaiyan will surely make good money in the days to come.
The occupancy in the multiplexes in areas like Nizam is pretty good but the single screens are dull. In the days to come, the film might get decent occupancy as the Telugu releases have not done well during the Dussehra festival release.
The other big release, Viswam featuring Gopichand has faltered at the box office giving Vettaiyan an undue advantage at the box office. Rajinikanth was seen as an encounter specialist in this film which also had Rana Daggubati in a key role.
Fahadh Faasil was also seen in a key role in this film which had Anirudh as the music composer. The film deals with a sensitive subject and showcases Rajini as a ruthless cop who goes all out to get justice for a school teacher.
Rana is doing his bit in Telugu to keep the film in the news. We need to see how much the film collects by the end of its run in Telugu states. For now, it has made decent numbers in its first four days. Watch this space for more updates on this project.
