Rajinikanth is currently busy in his acting career with some highly promising projects in the pipeline. The senior superstar of Tamil cinema is teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker TJ Gnanavel for his 170th outing in cinema. The highly anticipated project, which has been titled Vettaiyan, is touted to be an action-packed entertainer. The sources close to the project have now dropped an exciting update on the release date, to the much excitement of the audience.
Vettaiyan to get a Summer 2024 release?
As per the latest updates, Vettaiyan is set to hit the big screens as leading man Rajinikanth’s second release of 2024. Reportedly, the makers of the much-awaited project are keen to release the multi-starrer during the Summer of 2024, preferrably in April. If things go as planned, the TJ Gnanavel directorial might hit the theatres during the second week of April 2024, as a Tamil Puthandu special release. However, the release date will get finalised only after the team wrap up the shooting of Vettaiyan.
Vettaiyan shoot update
The new schedule shooting of the Rajinikanth starter has been progressing in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. Along with Rajinikanth, some of the prominent cast members of the film, including Fahadh Faasil, are a part of the Tuticorin schedule of the film. A location still of the superstar and the National award-winner from the sets of Vettaiyan has gone viral on social media recently.
However, the team went on a shoot break on December 28, 2023, after the demise of the senior actor-politician, Vijayakanth. However, the shoot will be resumed shortly after leading man Rajinikanth returns from Chennai. Director TJ Gnanavel and his team are planning to wrap the entire filming of the movie, by the last week of January 2024. In that case, the post-production works of the film will go on floors by the first week of February 2024.

Rajinikanth is set to play the role of a senior police officer in Vettaiyan, which is touted to be an action-packed film with a strong social message. Along with the superstar, the much-awaited project features a stellar star cast including legendary Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan, in the key roles. Anirudh Ravichander composes the songs and original score for Vettaiyan, which is bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
