Vettaiyan out on OTT: The movie revolves around cop Athiyan who embarks on an encounter mission only to realize he has wrongly convicted someone

Vettaiyan, the recently released Tamil film starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Prime Video. Written and directed by filmmaker TJ Gnanavel, the film is available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
The 2024 Tamil film Vettaiyan saw the collaboration between filmmaker TJ Gnanavel and veteran actor Rajinikanth for the first time. The film hit theatres on October 10, and following its theatrical run, the film is now available for streaming on Prime Video. The Tamil film is available with Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi audios as well.
Vettaiyan is about an uptight cop Athiyan who is known to carry out encounter missions. While he gets one such assignment to finish off an accused who has been alleged of rape and murder of a school teacher, Athiyan realizes that the person has been wrongly convicted of the crime. With the guilt that he took an innocent man’s life, he realizes a larger scheme of things which happens in the private education sector.
Apart from Rajinikanth, the film also has a star ensemble including actors Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, GM Sundar, Abirami, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Ramesh Thilak, Rakshan, and others in important roles.
Vettaiyan is backed by Lyca Productions and has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The camera is cranked by SR Kathir ISC and B Kiruthika has penned the screenplay. Other parts of the technical crew include K Kadhir as production designer, Anbariv handling the stunts, editor Philomin Raj, and art director Sakthee Venkatraj M.
Vettaiyan opened to mixed reviews upon its release. “Gnanavel, with his right intentions, makes a Rajinikanth film that doubles up as both fan service and moral compass. But somewhere, it fumbles under the weight it carries and misses the target by many miles,” reads the OTTplay review of the film.
