It looks like Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu re-release opened to packed theatres in the state. Movie halls in Chennai, especially Kamal Theatre was packed to the rafters on the occasion as the remastered version of the film released today.

 Cop drama Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu has Kamal Haasan as DCP Raghavan and has Jyotika and Kamalinee Mukherjee as the leading ladies. While Daniel Balaji plays the antagonist, the supporting cast comprises Prakash Raj, Salim Baig, Lev Gorn, Yog Japee, Ahuti Prasad, Janaki Sabesh, Ganesh, and Rajashree.

Fans who gathered in theatres to watch their favourite matinee idol once again on screen were an excited lot. Die-hard fans were seen celebrating the occasion in a big manner. One of the fans had written on his social media after watching the film, "What a day it has been. Happy to have witnessed this masterpiece yet again,It's been a year since we have seen #Kamalhaasan on d big screen & forever indebted to @menongautham ,ASTONISHING to see d overwhelming response Aandavar strikes again (sic)."

Another user wrote that he was expecting a sequel to the popular film. He wrote, "It's Mind Blowing Experience to See #Aandavar #KamalHaasan in Cop Role I Hope Someday #VettaiyaaduVilaiyaadu Gets an Sequel Jamp Packed Response for #Ulaganayagan #Kamal Entry at #VettriTheatre #VettaiyaduVilaiyaduRerelease #VettaiyaduVilaiyadu (sic)."

The fans were joined by actor Robo Shankar as well. A Twitter user shared the video and wrote, "Unbelievable celebrations going on in @kamala_cinemas for Ulaganayagan #KamalHaasan 's #VettaiyaaduVilaiyaadu!!! Defeaning Noise!Housefull show and fans are going crazy. Robo Shankar joins fans in welcoming Aandavar in the Marana Mass Intro scene. @ikamalhaasan (sic)."

Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu hit screens in 2006. The plot revolves around a police officer, who investigates a series of brutal rapes and murders committed by a psycho killer.
