Filmmaker Vetrimaaran is currently immersed in the post-production of Viduthalai: Part 2. While he has completed editing the movie, he remains uncertain about its release date in cinemas.

"I don't know when Viduthalai 2 will release even though I have already finished it," said Vetrimaaran at an event in Chennai.

He described Viduthalai 2 as the most challenging film of his career due to various factors. "Until recently, I maintained that Aadukalam was the most challenging film in my career. But now, it's Viduthalai. This film has been emotionally and physically very challenging. We have worked in unimaginable conditions with about 200 or 300 people. And we should also ensure everyone's safety, which is one of my responsibilities as a director. This film is also very challenging for me as a writer," he explained.

Vetrimaaran's next films

Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai: Part 1 was released in cinemas in 2023 and received unanimously positive reviews from critics. It also became one of the highest-grossing Tamil films that year.

Vetrimaaran noted that when he started the project, he didn't anticipate spending so much time and effort on it. He revealed that he didn't initially plan for Viduthalai to be a two-part movie. However, the scope and scale of the film expanded during production, prompting him to split it into two parts.

Vetrimaaran also screened a director's cut of Viduthalai 2 at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where it received a standing ovation.

Viduthalai 2 stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles.

"After Viduthalai 2, I will start working on Vaadi Vaasal. And I have no idea what my next projects will be after that. Vada Chennai 2 will take time," revealed Vetrimaaran.

Vaadi Vaasal has created quite a hype among fans of Tamil cinema as it would mark Vetrimaaran's first-time collaboration with Tamil star Suriya.

Viduthalai Part 1 is streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium
