The actor who worked with Satyajit Ray was in ventilation at a hospital

Satyajit Ray’s Jana Aranya actor Pradip Mukhopadhyay breathed his last on August 29 in the morning. The actor was admitted to Dum Dum Cantonment Municipal Hospital after suffering from a lung infection and pneumonia. According to the hospital report, the level of infection in the blood increased and that affected his organs. He was 76.
Pradip Mukhopadhyay is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. His children live in Dubai. His daughter flew down to Kolkata on Monday. According to reports, his body will be cremated at a crematorium around the Dum Dum area on Monday.
The actor was shooting Nirmal Mukherjee’s Datta. He fell ill two days after the shooting started. Initially, he was taken to a private hospital in Nagerbazar in Dum Dum. Later he was transferred to the private ward of the Municipal Hospital of Dum Dum Cantonment. According to the actor's wife Tapati Mukhopadhyay, his condition started deteriorating on Sunday. She said that the actor is not responding to her. He has a chronic lung problem with carbon residue. According to the hospital sources, he was responding on Saturday.
Pradip came into prominence after playing the role of Somnath, the protagonist of the Satyajit Ray film Jana Aranya. Later, he worked in Rituparno Ghosh's Utsav, Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Duratwa and many other films. He also starred in films like Dour, Sati, Aslilatar Daye, Hirer Angti Pupa and Purushottom.
