Simbu's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (VTK), directed by Gautham Menon, will hit the screens on September 15. Recently, the announcement was made along with a one-minute video, showing a glimpse into the film, and introducing Simbu's character.
Ishari Ganesh, the film's producer, took to social media to heap praise on the Oscar-winning music composer, also the music director of VTK. "I met AR Rahman a couple of times and was bowled over by his simplicity and vision. The songs of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu have come out well, and will be a musical treat for the Rahman fans!"
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is written by Jeyamohan. The film's technical crew consists of cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni and editor Anthony.
Siddhi Idnani is the female lead and Raadhika Sarathkumar, Siddique, and child actor Aangelina Abraham are also part of the cast.
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu marks the third collaboration of Gautham Menon, Simbu and AR Rahman. Previously, the trio worked on Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada.
Simbu was last seen in Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu in 2021, which was a blockbuster. On the work front, the actor has Pathu Thala, Corona Kumar, and untitled projects, with directors Lingusamy and Madonne Ashwin.
Gautham Menon, in an interview with the Hindu, said, there’s a certain level of screenwriting that goes into songs. “I write everything in the scripting stage itself. I cannot go to a composer, asking for a ‘love’ song — whether it is Raja or Rahman. Once the song takes shape, there is another round of writing. I listen to the song on loop and write shots for every single line. In my scripts, the lines of the songs will be written as descriptions.”
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, majorly shot in Tiruchendur, Chennai, and Mumbai, revolves around the life of a young man from a village in Tamil Nadu, whose life takes a turn after moving to Mumbai.
