​Silambarasan's recent release Vendhu Thanindhathu, which hit screens on September 15, has been running to packed houses in the second week of the film's release. The film, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is a musical gangster duology and Silambarasan's performance in it has come in for a lot of praise. Silambarasan plays Muthu, a graduate who moves to the big city in Mumbai and becomes a gangster. The film, which is based on the works of B Jeyamohan, tracks Silambarasan's journey from a teenager to becoming the mafia don in the Mumbai underworld.


The film stars Siddhi Idnani as the leading lady marking her debut in Tamil, Raadika Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav, Aangelina Abraham, Delhi Ganesh, Appukutty to name a few. The team recently threw a success party in Chennai and on the occasion, the film's producer Ishari Ganesh gifted a luxury car to both and a mean machine bike to Gautham Vasudev Menon.


The makers also posted pictures of the car and the director with the bike and captioned it, "Producer Dr @IshariKGanesh gifted a Brand New Luxury Car to #Atman @SilambarasanTR_& Royal Enfield bike to Director @menongautham for the Huge success #VendhuThanindhathuKaadu at #VTKSuccessParty". At the party, Silambarasan was seen bonding like a house on fire with Sivakarthikeyan as well.


The film has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by Anthony. The film has been bankrolled by Vels Film International. In the meantime, Silambarasan has resumed work on Obeli N Krishna's directorial Pathu Thala. The film is a remake of the 2017 Kannada film Mufti, and will have Gautham Karthik sharing screen space with Silambarasan for the first time. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the leading lady in it. The Kannada version was directed by Narthan and it ran to packed houses. The digital rights of the film have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video.
