Vemal and Tanya Hope's upcoming outing Kulasami release date has been pushed. The film, directed by Sharavana Shakthi, was originally slated to release today (April 21), but the makers have decided to push the release nevertheless as they call the current situation not favourable for the film's release.

The film's production house today released an official statement about the change in release date. The statement read, "Our recent film Kulasami starring Vemal and Taniya Hope in lead, directed by Sharavana Shakthi, was originally slated to release on 21st April, 2023 by M/s. Sanjith Siva Studios. Despite our willingness to meet you all at the theatres on the above said date, the present uncertain situation is not favourable to release the movie across the world. Hence, the release of our movie Kulasami is now postponed from the originally scheduled date on 21.04.23 to a new, better and big date, and that is on 05.05.23."

Kulasami has been lying in cans for a while now and the pandemic-induced lockdowns delayed the film's release. The supporting cast of the film includes Bose Venkat, Vinothini and Mahanadhi Shankar. The film is said to be a revenge drama and Vemal is seen in a fierce avatar in the film's poster. Sharavana Shakthi had earlier made Dhandayuthapani (2007) and Billa Pandi (2018). The director had stated that the film's plot is based on a real-life incident.

Music for the film is by Mahalingam, cinematography by Ravi Chandran and editing by Gopi Krishnan. Kanal Kannan has choreographed the stunt sequences.

Vemal was last seen in the web series Vilangu, a crime thriller which was streamed on Zee5. The series was directed by Prashanth Pandiyaraj of Bruce Lee fame. Vemal received critical acclaim for his performance as sub-inspector Ilamparithi, who is consumed by work and is unable to balance his professional and personal life.
