Actor Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 was slated to release in theatres on March 27, Thursday. Written and directed by SU Arun Kumar, the film faced last-minute delays with the FDFS shows at 9 am and US premieres getting cancelled. There is no clarity, at the time of writing the article, about when Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 will release. However, as per reports, a ban of four weeks on the film has been ordered. Why Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 FDFS cancelled, Makers caught in financial trouble?
Vikram’s film Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 faced a last-minute trouble, with the FDFS cancelled. The Vikram-starrer was burdened with financial and legal troubles, with an interim stay order placed on the release. As a result, all the 9 am shows and US premieres did not take place.
As per reports, this is because a Bollywood-based entertainment company B4U, had invested in the film. Production banner HR Pictures, which is bankrolling Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, has placed OTT and satellite deals of the film for repayment to the financier. With the film’s deals yet to take place, B4U has sued the makers of Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 and asked for a stay on the film's release.
What is the current status of the case?
As per a Delhi court, where the hearing took place on Thursday morning, it has ordered the makers to pay Rs 7 crore and submit the relevant documents within 48 hours. This does not provide clarity on whether the film will release on Thursday and run matinee and night shows. But some reports suggest that Vikram has foregone his salary to settle the case. It is also widely reported that the film will face a 4-week ban. Further clarifications are awaited.
Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 is headlined by Vikram and is directed by SU Arun Kumar. The action thriller stars Dushara Vijayan, Suraj Venjaramoodu in his Tamil debut, SJ Suryah and others in prominent roles. The film’s music is scored by GV Prakash Kumar.
