Shiva Rajkumar's landmark 125th film Vedha has been trending on social media since its release on December 23. The A. Harsha directorial is a period action drama that boasts strong central performances of Shivanna, Ganavi Laxman, Aditi Sagar, Shwetha Changappa, Umashree, and many others. The Twitter review of the film has been very encouraging with netizens reckoning that this is Shiva Rajkumar's best film since Tagaru.
However, the same positive word-of-mouth publicity is yet to translate into box office collections as Vedha makes a slightly weak start at the box office. As per the latest trade reports, the film managed to collect about Rs. 1.5 crores (net) on Day #1 with the gross figures amounting to Rs. 2.5 crores domestically. Vedha is said to have grossed about Rs. 3 crores worldwide.
While the numbers do seem fairly decent, one could say that they are a tad underwhelming considering that Vedha is a milestone film for Shiva Rajkumar, combined with the fact that it got a bigger opening in theatres compared to some of his previous releases. However, the encouraging critical and audience reviews could prove handy and the collections could see a vast improvement in the next couple of days.
Vedha, reportedly, is made at a budget of Rs. 8 crores and the team would certainly hope to achieve break-even status within the first week of its theatrical run. The film is the fourth collaboration between Shiva Rajkumar and A. Harsha and fans have hailed it to be their best venture so far. The duo's previous film together, Bhajarangi 2, was severely affected by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and later by the tragic passing of Puneeth Rajkumar on October 29, 2021.
