VD13: Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur's film with Parasuram Petla formally launched

Vijay Deverakonda is gradually bouncing back from the debacle of Liger with a series of exciting projects. While his romance drama, Kushi, directed by Shiva Nirvana is nearing completion, he has signed a film each with Jersey director Gowtam Tinnanuri and another project with Parasuram Petla, with whom he’d worked on the blockbuster Geetha Govindam.

While VD12, his film with Gowtam Tinnanuri is a cop drama, produced by Sithara Entertainments, where he shares screenspace with Sreeleela, the latter, tentatively titled VD13, has him paired opposite Mrunal Thakur and is produced by Dil Raju. VD13 was formally launched today in the presence of the cast, crew and several film dignitaries in Hyderabad.

Gopi Sundar scores the music for the film while KU Mohanan has come on board as the cinematographer. Noted director Vasu Varma is also part of the crew. While Vijay donned a green kurta and a white pyjama for the same, Mrunal Thakur hogged the limelight in a pink Anarkali kurta. Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy sounded the clapboard.

Dil Raju’s daughter, producer Hanshitha Reddy, Shirish were also present at the event. This is the 54th project bankrolled under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film was finalised amidst a controversy where Parasuram backed out of the sequel to Geetha Govindam, to be produced by Geetha Arts and joined hands with Dil Raju out of the blues. The filmmaker was also slated to work with Naga Chaitanya under 14 Reels Entertainment as well which didn’t materialise.

Meanwhile, VD13 actress Mrunal Thakur is also part of Nani’s 30th film directed by debutant Shouryuv. The film is touted to be a father-daughter drama that also stars Shruti Haasan. Vijay Deverakonda recently filmed for key sequences of Kushi in Turkey along with Samantha. With three releases in the next few months, his calendar looks quite packed already.
