After having established himself as an action hero with his debut film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ itself, Ajay Devgn went onto do films which had him playing diverse roles. This week, we will get to see Ajay Devgn exploring the genre of horror in the form of Shaitaan, a film that is all set to release this week. It’s a known fact that the film ‘Shaitaan’ is an official remake of the Gujarati hit film Vash. But, did you know that, a few months ago, the makers of Ajay Devgn starrer Shaitaan had actually tried to stop the release of the Gujarati film Vash, which was written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik.
This ‘incident’ had happened around last year when the makers of the Ajay Devgn starrer Shaitaan had tried to stop the release of' Vash'. As per a report in the Times Of India, it was stated that the producers of Shaitaan had stopped the streaming of the Gujarati film Vash on the video streaming platform YouTube as well as other OTT platforms, after they had struck a deal with Shemaroo, the very people who had bought all the right of the film Vash.
The report also mentioned that the makers of Shaitaan (Kumar Mangat and his son Abhishek Pathak) had actually stopped the airing of the Gujarati film Vash on any platform. The reason for them to do so was to ensure that the audiences saw their film Shaitaan first, rather than watching Vash on the internet.
In a step in that direction, the father-son duo of Kumar Mangat and his son Abhishek Pathak went ahead and signed a deal with the producers of Vash (KS Entertainment, Patel Processing Studios and Ananta Business Corp in collaboration with A Big Box Series). As per the struck deal, Shemaroo will be prevented from airing the Gujarati film on any OTT platform or even YouTube!
As for the film Shaitaan, besides Ajay Devgn, it also stars the southern superstar Jyotika and Janki Bodiwala, the same girl who had also acted in the Gujarati film Vash. Besides all of them, the surprise element of the film is R Madhavan, who is all set to portray a ‘smooth operating antagonist’ in the film, that walks on the territory of black magic.
The film Shaitaan, which has been directed by Vikas Bahl, will be released on March 8, 2024 in theatres.
