Director Vasanth S Sai's long-pending movie Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum, which has been lying in the cans for a long time, is finally having a direct-to-OTT release. The movie, which showcases the struggles faced by three women in different ways, will premiere on Sony LIV soon.
The social media handle of the OTT platform announced the same, though the makers are yet to announce the release date. Parvathy Thiruvothu, Kalieswari Srinivasan and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli play lead roles in this anthology which has Marimuthu, Karunakaran, Senthi Kumari, Lizzie Antony and the late Cheenu Mohan among others playing crucial roles.
The film has cinematography by NK Ekambaram, editing by Sreekar Prasad and music by maestro Ilaiyaraaja. The movie, which went on floors in 2015, was screened in several national and international film festivals. Its theatrical release date got postponed several times, and finally movie lovers are happy that the acclaimed project is releasing soon.
Ashokamitran, Adhavan and Jeyamohan have written the story for the female-centric film which is said to have touched upon topics like marriage, pregnancy, patriarchy and discrimination which women face at their husbands' homes. Tiburon International Film Festival, Atlanta Indian Film Festival, Goteborg Sweden International Film Festival, New York Indian Film Festival and Mumbai International Film Festival were a few events where the movie was screened.
Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum won many awards as well, including the Best Asian Film award at the 11th Bangalore International Film Festival in 2019. Vasanth's last outing was Payasam for Netflix's Navarasa which had a premiere on Netflix a few months ago.
