Fans of actor Varun Tej and makers of Ghani will be heaving a sigh of relief at last. Ghani, the sports drama starring Varun Tej, Saiee Manjrekar in the lead, was to hit theatres in Novemeber last year initially, considered multiple dates in December as well. The film was later confirmed to hit theatres in March, later advanced to February 25 but had to make way for Bheemla Nayak on the same date. After going back and forth with many release dates, Ghani is now confirmed to globally release in the cinemas on April 8.
Ghani marks the directorial debut of Kiran Korrapati and has an ensemble cast comprising names like Naveen Chandra, Suniel Shetty, Upendra, Nadiya Moidu, Naresh, Jagapathi Babu and others, to name a few. Movie buffs have already been restless about the release of the film and if it doesn't make it to theatres on April 8 this time, there are high chances that they may lose interest in it. The release date-woes have done some damage to the buzz of the film already but the presence of composer S Thaman, Tamannaah's special song, the stylish visuals could prove to be additional pull-factors beyond the lead actors.
The singing debut of Aditi Shankar with Ghani had taken many by surprise recently and the actor-musician awed audiences at a promotional event where she was crooning and grooving to her number with ease. Ghani has other firsts too - it's the first on-screen appearance of Saiee Manjrekar in a Telugu film, who'll also be seen in Adivi Sesh's Major. Upendra is also making his comeback to Telugu cinema after the humungous success of S/O Satyamurthy.
Produced by Allu Bobby and Sidhu Mudda, the sports drama has been in the making for over two years now and has cinematography by George C Williams ISC. The film's technical crew comprises ace editor Marthand K Venkatesh, production designer Ravinder Reddy as well. Telugu OTT platform aha is the streaming partner of Ghani.
