Varun Tej, Lavanya Tripathi engagement: Tracing the love story of Mister duo

Telugu cinema, since the age of Bhanumathi-PS Ramakrishna in the 1940s to the times of Nagarjuna-Amala in the 1990s and Mahesh Babu-Namrata Shirodkar in 2000s, has boasted several couples where both the partners work in the film industry. We have another addition to the ever-growing list of industry couples with Mister, Antarisham 9000 kmph duo Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi.

Varun Tej and Lavanya got to spend a lot of time together during their first on-screen collaboration Mister, directed by Sreenu Vaitla. While they were good friends during the time and began dating a few months later. They managed to keep their relationship under wraps for a long time, until reports emerged that they were together during the making of Sankalp Reddy’s Antariksham 9000 kmph.

It was even rumoured that Lavanya Tripathi came on board for Antariksham on the insistence of Varun Tej. Reports of their relationship grew in abundance as the pair appeared together for parties, events hosted by mutual friends. In addition, the association between Lavanya and Varun’s sister Niharika Konidela and the former’s presence at her wedding provided fodder for gossip.

Earlier this year in January, Varun Tej is believed to have proposed marriage on Lavanya Tripathi’s birthday in Mumbai where he gifted her a diamond ring. Both the actors chose not to be vocal about the news despite the approval from their parents later. Before their engagement tomorrow, Varun and Lavanya went for a vacation in Europe and they posted pictures of their trip separately.

The couple is set to get engaged in the presence of family and friends tomorrow in Hyderabad (June 9). Several members from the Konidela, Allu family - Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Sai Dharam Tej, Panja Vaisshnav Tej, Allu Arjun, Allu Aravind and others are expected to be a part of the event. The details about their wedding aren’t out yet.

Varun Tej is the only son of Chiranjeevi’s younger brother Naga Babu Konidela and Padmaja and has a sibling Niharika Konidela, who’s a successful actor-producer. The actor forayed into Telugu cinema with Mukunda and carved his niche in the industry with acclaimed films like Kanche, Fidaa, F2, Tholi Prema, Gaddalakonda Ganesh. As a child actor, he was part of a film titled Hands Up.

Lavanya Tripathi is the daughter of a lawyer-teacher couple based out of Dehradun, Uttarakhand and has two siblings. She’d won the Miss Uttarakhand title during school in 2006 and actively started modelling before shifting base to Mumbai.
