Varun Tej, who starred in the sports drama Ghani and the comic caper F3 in 2022, is gearing up for his first release this year - Gandeevadhari Arjuna, directed by Praveen Sattaru. The film is an action thriller, where he pairs up opposite Sakshi Vaidya, who debuted with Agent. Ahead of the film’s release, the lead actors, director took part in a promotional interview hosted by Abhinav Gomatam.

In the chat, Varun Tej revealed his reason behind giving a nod to the script. He called himself an action junkie and said he always respected Praveen Sattaru for the kind of films he makes. “I was very positive when he called me for narration. Action stories are on the move, have a sense of urgency but I wanted the conflict to be relevant. It tackles a contemporary problem and made me say yes to it.”

He promised a different experience for viewers. The script reportedly made him think about how we take our lives and our environment for granted and said it was very thought-provoking. “Regardless of our intent, the screenplay needs to be compelling for us to entertain, educate people. The film strikes that balance perfectly.”

The actor assured the film won’t be preachy but their intent is to bring awareness and look beyond our mundane lives. He spoke how the team didn’t want the music to be a speedbreaker to the story. “Even in the only song in the film, we establish the relationship between the lead couple through montages.”

Speaking about his approach towards script selection, Varun said he needs to like a story when he signs a movie and that needs to have enough confidence about the director’s mettle to execute it. “I had already worked with Bapineedu of (SVCC) before - Tholi Prema, they are chilled out and I knew they would help us make it well.”
