Varun Sood has opened up about hosting Reality Ranis of the Jungle. The actor spoke to OTTplay about the most 'gruesome' challenge the female contestants performed.

Varun Sood has taken up hosting duties for a new reality show, Reality Ranis of the Jungle. The reality series has 12 women, from different walks of life, participate as contestants. It is an all-women survival show, where the contestants trade their luxurious lifestyles for an off-grid adventure. The series premiered on Discovery channel on September 23 at 10 pm. As the show premiered, OTTplay exclusively interviewed host Varun, who revealed the most 'gruesome' challenge of Reality Ranis of the Jungle.
Varun Sood on Reality Ranis of the Jungle's difficult challenge
Speaking with us, Varun Sood admitted he felt bad for the female contestants for the difficult things they went through on Reality Ranis of the Jungle. "Sometimes, they were out in the rain for 2 days without shelter and I felt very bad. I told the crew also that ye thoda zyada ho raha hai. But they said it is a reality series. I think Discovery and Banijay (Asia) stayed true to the fact that this is a reality show and we will only show the reality — 'we wouldn't give them any shelter and comfort'. Because it is the show's format," he revealed.
He further spoke about the most difficult challenge that the women of this reality show faced on day one. "I think the most gruesome and difficult challenge was on day one. When I heard the challenge and (when) I was getting briefing done by the crew, I said this is impossible. But they said 'We will figure it out and see how it goes'. These women killed it. They were eating raw meat and the things that they ate — I can't even hold," revealed Sood.

For those who are unaware, Bebika Dhurve, Pavitra Punia, Krissann Barretto, Anjali Schmuck, Arushi Chawla, Christeena Biju, Eksha Kerung, Jeevika Tyagi, Mira Jagannath, Mrunal Shankar, Sifat Sehgal and Tejaswi Madivada are the 12 female contestants of Reality Ranis of the Jungle. The series airs on Discovery Channel and streams on Discovery+.
