Varun Dhawan and his wife Natasha Dalal embraced parenthood for the first time on June 3 as they welcomed their daughter. In an interview, Varun revealed that they have named their daughter, Lara. In a recent conversation, Varun opened up about becoming a parent and also discussed his intense protective instincts that began since Lara’s birth.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Varun Dhawan shared his thoughts about parenthood. He said that when an individual becomes a parent, for the mother it is a different experience, she becomes a tigeress, but as per him, a man feels a sense of protection towards their daughter.
"I am sure you feel for sons also, but towards the daughter… If anyone causes even so much (little) harm to her I’d kill them. I am dead serious when I say that. Literally, I’d kill them," Varun shared.
Reflecting on his childhood experiences, the Citadel: Honey Bunny actor said how his father, David Dhawan, would constantly worry about his safety and well-being.
He shared that he started understanding his father a little better, his insecurities, his hyper behaviour, his anxiety about ‘be home at time’.
"He’s (David Dhawan) calling my mom… He just wanted everyone to be together as a tribe, as a pack. I would never get it, I’d be like, ‘what is his issue?’ I am not a child, why does he want to keep me near him," Varun added. He also said that he understands his father's concern more now because he recently became a father himself.
Varun was recently seen in Raj & DK's spy action series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. It is the Indian spy action spin-off of the American series, Citadel which starred Priyanka Chopra.
Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Varun and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been garnering praise from viewers. They loved the plot and also the performances. The plot takes us back to the 1990s when stuntman Bunny hires struggling actress Honey (Samantha) for a side gig that leads them into a high-stakes world of action, espionage, and betrayal.
Meanwhile, Varun has Baby John and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in the pipeline.
