Varun Dhawan and his filmmaker father, David Dhawan, are teaming up for a romantic comedy after a series of comedies. The director apparently cast Mrunal Thakur and Kannada actor Sreeleela for the unnamed project, according to recent mid-day reports. After finishing off filming Baby John, Varun is reportedly set to begin production on the romantic comedy on July 12.
Production start date and initial filming location
According to the tabloid, table reads have reportedly begun with the main cast, with less than a week until production begins. The production will begin on July 12 at Bandra's Mehboob Studios, according to an insider. During the first week, David will film the leading man in various interior scenes on his massive set. The crew will film in the Bandra studio throughout the monsoons, according to the schedule, before moving on to other locations.
Varun will have to strike a balance between this project and Shashank Khaitan's Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
Plot and casting details
Earlier, a source revealed to Pinkvilla that a love triangle where the protagonist's life becomes a web of uncertainty provides the comedic setting, as is typical of David Dhawan's comedies. The team has cast Sreeleela as Varun's romantic interest. The actor thinks this pakka-commercial entertainer will be excellent for breaking into the Hindi market.
In the film, Varun will have romantic encounters with Sreeleela and Mrunal. It follows the style of David Dhawan's films and is an entertaining watch. Varun goes back to where he started. In addition to the actor, the producers have gone to extraordinary lengths to secure Mrunal and Sreeleela's casting.
The actor has worked with his director-dad on three previous films: Main Tera Hero (2014), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Coolie No. 1 (2020). They have not yet revealed the title of the upcoming film. They aim to complete the project by Diwali if all goes according to plan.
