Count on Vineeth Sreenivasan to truly evoke the emotions of the audience through music in his films. Much like his previous release Hridayam, starring Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan, his upcoming film Varshangalkku Shesham too is packed to the brim with songs and the makers released the first six on Thursday, and it’s safe to say that each of them has a tune that is sure to compliment the film’s visuals.

Composed by Amrit Ramnath, son of Bombay Jayashri, the makers had released the songs Varaveena, Madhu Pakaroo, Jeevithagaadhakale, Sangamam, Njaanaalunna and Karakaana – while also revealing tidbits about each of the tracks.

While it was also clear that the film is a period drama, Vineeth had been coy about revealing the era. The songs of the film made it clear that substantial portions of it will be set in the early 70s. The tack Jeevithagaadhakale, which could be the most popular one from the film as it will have another extended version for the audience in theatres, has “visuals based in Madras of the 70s”. Incidentally, the team says that not a single shot “was filmed in Chennai”.

Kochi, Pollachi and Coimbatore were the main locations of the song that would show the journey of its characters. The extended version could also be played during the second phase of its characters’ lives that is reported to be set in current era.

Another track Sangamam, which shows the romance between Pranav and Kalyani’s characters in the 70s also hint at the time period, with its composer using the melody to define the era. The team is expected to drop more songs from the film in the coming weeks.
