Varshangalkku Shesham, the period drama directed by multi-faceted talent Vineeth Sreenivasan finally had its OTT release on popular platform Sony LIV. The movie, which stars Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead roles features Nivin Pauly in a cameo appearance. After the much-awaited OTT release of Varshangalkku Shesham, leading man Pranav has been facing massive trolling on social media, for his performance in the film. The netizens are especially unhappy with the star kid’s performance as Murali Vishwambharan, in the film.

Varshangalkku Shesham, which emerged as a super hit at the box office, has been receiving mixed reviews from audiences after its OTT release on Sony LIV. The film fanatics feel that the film lacks solid writing and has too many forgettable characters. However, it is the casting of Pranav Mohanlal as musician Murali Vishwabharan that disappointed the netizens the most. A major group of Malayalam cinema audiences opine that the star kid-turned-actor is the weakest link in the film.

According to the netizens, Pranav Mohanlal was just unconvincing, especially in the portions where he played the aged Murali. The film fanatics also feel that the character’s romantic subplot involving Annie, the character Kalyani Priyadarshan, served no purpose in the film. They also point out that the exceptional onscreen chemistry between the duo, which was their biggest plus point in both Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and Hridayam, was totally missiing in Varshangalkku Shesham.

“The unwanted Romance track which let down the audience above all the said ‘cringe’ Varshangalkku Shesham. The earlier liked Pranav - Kalyani pairing is becoming tried and tested for Pranav movies aiming business, considering the audience liking for their off-screen friendship,” wrote a netizen. “Pranav Mohanlal-Vineeth Sreenivasan combo. BLOCKBUSTER IN THEATRES. ON AIR IN OTT,” wrote a user. “Varshangalkku Shesham is a commercial success at the box office just because of the screen presence of Nivin Pauly. It'd have not been successful like this. It's the weakest directorial of Vineeth Sreenivasan. Make sure you don't cast Pranav Mohanlal anymore,” reads a post.
