Dhanush's first bilingual movie, Vaathi (Sir in Telugu), has been riding on high expectations ever since the project was announced. The powerful teaser which was out recently escalated its hype even further. The movie has been slated for a theatrical release on December 2.
The makers have now teased movie lovers with a new poster featuring Dhanush in an action-packed avatar. He is seen bashing up a guy even as three children are watching him from a distance. The actor plays a government school teacher in the project which has been helmed by Venky Atluri.
The movie will be Dhanush's fifth outing this year and third theatrical release. Maaran and The Gray Man had direct releases on Disney+ Hotstar and Netflix respectively while Thiruchitramabalam and Naane Varuvean were released in August and September. GV Prakash is teaming up again for a Dhanush-starrer as the music composer after Aadukalam, Asuran and Maaran.
Samyuktha Menon is essaying the female lead in the film which has been jointly bankrolled by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. J Yuvraj and Naveen Nooli have handled cinematography and editing for Vaathi.
The movie touches upon various flaws in the education system. The difference between the education imparted in private schools and government schools is the crux of its story. How a school teacher sets out to make a difference in the society drives the plot forward.
Dhanush has already begun the shooting of Captain Miller after wrapping up Vaathi recently. The latter is his first bilingual project and will have a simultaneous release in both Tamil and Telugu.
