Vaadivaasal update: Suriya-Vetrimaaran project to go on floors soon? Here’s what we know

Suriya and Vetrimaaran, the celebrated actor and acclaimed filmmaker, officially announced their first onscreen collaboration, Vaadivaasal, in 2021. The movie, which started rolling later with a test shoot, was put on hold due to multiple production issues. However, in some of the recent interviews, both Suriya and Vetrimaaran confirmed that the project has not been shelved. Interestingly, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu recently confirmed that Vaadivaasal is finally set to go on floors very soon.

Vaadivaasal to start rolling soon?

In a recent interview with Behindwoods, Kalaipuli S Thanu, who is set to bankroll Vaadivaasal, dropped major updates on the film. The senior producer, who confirmed that the period drama film is very much on cards, confirmed that the project is set to go on floors soon. According to Kalaipuli S Thanu, Suriya has already confirmed that he is ready to start shooting for the film. However, the team was waiting for Vetrimaaran to finish the works of his recent film, Viduthalai Part 2.

Now, the filmmaker no longer has any other work commitments and is finally ready to resume the works of Vaadivaasal, soon. If things go as planned, Suriya and Vetrimaaran will kickstart the filming of the period drama film in a few weeks. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the CG works of the film have already begun in a famous studio in the United Kingdom, recently. If things go as planned, the actor-director duo will make an official announcement on the shoot commencement, very soon.

Vaadivaasal: Here’s what we know

If the reports are to be believed, Suriya is set to play a double role in Vaadivaasal, as a father and son. The movie, which is based on CS Chellappa’s bestselling Tamil novel of the same name, reportedly revolves around the Jallikattu sport. Andrea Jeremiah is expected to play the female lead in the much-awaited film, which reportedly stars actor-filmmaker Ameer Sulthan, in a pivotal role. GV Prakash Kumar has been roped in to compose the film’s songs and the original score.
